Family Readiness Group "FRG"

I finally attended my 1st duty as an "ARMY WIFE" yesterday with Justin! It was an FRG meeting - acryonym for "Family Readiness Group".

I really was not sure what to expect out of this meeting, all I knew was that it was for the Soldiers and the Families and that it was Mandatory for someone to attend. So, with that being said, I wasn't to thrilled knowing they were being forced to be there. But I kept my opinions to myself and tried to go in with an open mind since this is now my lifestyle and I need to learn what's going on.

To my surprise, the Meeting was held at a Sports USA (yeah, Pool Tables!) - they rented out a room and had us all in there. We had a couple of tables pulled together and I knew a few of Justins battle buddies that were with us and met a few new ones and one wife - DeeAnn sat next to me with her 2 month old baby!

Once the meeting started, the FRG Leader, June began by telling us that she is not the one in the Army -- Her Husband is, so do not address her by a title such as the Commanders Wife and she will not either. She does not like the ranks as she did not enlist and she does not want this to be a problem with the wives, to where no one wants to give their input to her or approach her. She wants everyones help, to volunteer and for her to delegate. She wants to get to know everyone to where they feel they can come to her in time of need as we will all need each other at one time or another, since we are all now one big Family. She said that is not the way alot of FRG Leaders do it, but that is how she is going to do it. I figured since this is my first FRG, I dig it. She is very friendly, and really seems honest in wanting to get everyone involved.

By the end of the evening I made 3 new Army Wife friends (besides the FRG Leader) - so all in all, I feel it was a very successful evening!

Oh, then we went and shot free pool and a local bar and I won some & lost some (had to make them want to play me again). But felt good to get out and about!

Lent...

Even though I still have not found a new Church Home yet out here, I still wanted to practice in the traditon of Lent.

Needless to say, it was hard for me to decide on what to give up and was suggested to give up Wii, but I don't play it enough to give it up....so....I decided to give up Sweet Tea. I LOVE Sweet Tea and usually make it at least twice a week and have it every time we go out to dinner.

Now, this will be a challenge, but I know I can do it!!!! And, in the meantime, I will continue to search for that perfect Church Home!
